TUTORING & HOMEWORK SUPPORT

How does it works?

Prior to the one-on-one tutoring session

  • French tutors will be in touch with kids and their families to determine what are their needs and/or what French concepts needs to be reviewed.

During the tutoring session

  • The student and the tutor will connect through Google Meet for 30 or 45 minutes.

  • They will review a structured mini-lesson together based on the topic discussed prior to the meeting.

  • Your kids will benefit from French homework support, language enrichment and learning French through games.

Here is an example of one of our French Tutor who is reading a French text to a Grade 1 student enrolled in a French Immersion school.

To help the student to use reading comprehension strategies to understand a French text, the tutor models familiar expressions that the student can use as sentence starters or think-aloud stems when making predictions about a text (e.g., “Je pense que…”, “Je vois…”, “Il y a…”).

Then, the tutor models the use of question words (e.g., “qui”, “quand”, “où”, “quoi”) and encourages the student to use them as she/he develops her/his ideas when writing texts in French.

 FAQs

    • Students and tutors are expected to come to the tutoring session on time.

    • Please let us know prior to the session if your child is not available for his/ her scheduled session (in that case we can schedule another time/date to make up for the missing session).

    • Once the session starts, if tutors are not seeing their students at the meeting they will text or call the parents to let them know that they are waiting for their students at the meeting.

    • If the student doesn't show up or if he/she is 15 minutes late (meaning that the tutor waited on the meeting for 15 minutes), the tutor will leave the meeting reunion and the client will be liable for payment for full instruction time.

    • Sessions must be paid before the day of the session.
